Robert E. (Bob) Walker, 68, of Lees Creek, died Friday, June 10, 2011 as a result of truck accident in Fayette County.
He was born Aug. 3, 1942 in Milledgeville, the son of the late Clarke R. and Ilo Hayes Walker.
He is survived by his wife, GG Georges Walker, whom he married Dec. 29, 1962.
Bob was a 1960 graduate of Simon Kenton High School and a 1964 graduate of The Ohio State University, College of Agriculture, where he also had done post graduate studies. He enjoyed the farming lifestyle and was a lifelong third generation farmer, having participated in more than 50 cropping seasons. He was an avid Ohio State fan who loved any and all the sports and enjoyed attending many of the games. He loved spending time at Rocky Fork Lake and vacationing in Naples, Fla. In addition to farming, he loved landscaping around his home.
He was a member of the New Vienna Lions Club, Ohio Corn Growers, Clinton County Pork Producers, Ohio Soybean Association and Ohio Farm Bureau, and had served on the board of directors for the Ohio Corn Growers, Clinton Landmark and Alpha Gamma Rho House Corp. Board.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Kelly Susan (Charles) Ely, Kent Robert (Shari) Walker and Kirk Georges (Tammy) Walker, all of Lees Creek; grandchildren, Kendra and Amanda Ely, and Rebecca, Brice, Trace and Alana Walker; a special aunt, Mary Virginia Dunn of Washington C.H.; sisters-in-law, Mary C. Brennan, Martha Jane (Carl) Custis, Anna L. McCann, Rose E. Georges and Betty Bowers; brother-in-law, John F. "Bud" (Mary Ann) Georges; and numerous aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his brothers-in-law, Richard Brennan, Willard B. McCann and John "Bill" Bowers; and several uncles and aunts.
In keeping with Bob's wishes, there will be no visitation.
A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family at the Centerville Cemetery in Lees Creek with Father James Wedig of St. Columbkille Catholic Church officiating. Friends and family are welcome to a lunch gathering from noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 15 at the Community Christian Church on S.R. 729.
