Frank W Helmke, 70, of RR2 Woodburn died at 8:45 am yesterday at Parkview Memorial Hospital, where he had been a patient since Friday, after an extended illness. He was a native of Henry County, Ohio, and had moved to Woodburn in 1906. He was a retired farmer and a member of Zion Lutheran (Bull Rapids) Church. Surviving are four daughters, Mrs Albert Doehrmanns and Mrs Rod Baeske, both of Woodburn; Mrs Stanley Pacek, Fort Wayne, and Mrs Joseph Magnuson, Post Falls, Idaho; three sons, Harold, Fort Wayne; Ernest of the US Navy and Virgil, Sacramento, Calif; two brothers, Henry, Woodburn and Martin, Fort Wayne; four sisters, Mrs Katie Bruns, Woodburn, Mrs Mary Meyer and Mrs Nora Bowers, and Mrs Helen Knoblauch, all of Fort Wayne; 29 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Services will be at 2 pm Wednesday at Zion Lutheran Church at Zion Lutheran Church, the Rev Christian A Schmidt officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 pm today until noon Wednesday when the body will be taken to the church. Preferred memorials are donations to the Zion Lutheran Church Building Fund.
