| Birth: | Oct. 17, 1896 | | Death: | Dec. 17, 1976 |  Singer. Born in St. Paul Minnesota, he was a operatic tenor singer when he made his debut on the New York opera scene in 1928. He spent twelve years performing leading tenor roles in opera houses all over Europe and sang in several films such as "The Big Broadcast of 1936" (1936), "I'll Take Romance" (1937), "Champagne Waltz" (1937) and "Take It Big" (1944). By the 1950s, he concentrated more on the creation of the Empire State Festival in New York and for other opera festivals through out the country. He died Santa Monica, California, at the age of 80.
