WIDOW OF FORMER COUNTY CLERK IS TAKEN BY DEATH
Mrs. Anna Adams, 74, the widow of Frank L. Adams, for a number of years county clerk of Knox county, died at 9:05 o'clock Friday morning in St. Mary's hospital, of heart complications. She had been ill for a number of months, but was only in the hospital since Dec. 11. Her home in recent years had been in Yates City.
Anna D. Houser was born in Yates City on Feb. 8, 1866, the daughter of William and Sarah (Merchant) Houser. On Nov. 7, 1884, she was married to Frank L. Adams, also a resident of Yates City. The family moved here in 1890, and after Mr. Adams had followed merchandising for a few years, he was named deputy county clerk. He was appointed as county clerk when the late M.O. Williamson resigned to become state treasurer, and subsequently was elected to the position several times. Mr. Adams died in 1921. Mrs. Adams was also preceded in death by three sisters, Mrs. Martha Soldwell of Yates City, Mrs. Nellie Douglas of New York and Mrs. Laura Kennedy of Kewanee.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Marie Adams Root of Yates City, and a sister, Mrs. Mary Turner of Fairview.
The funeral services will be held in the Methodist church at Yates City at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon, in charge of the Rev. C.W. Leonard. The body was taken to the Patterson Funeral home in Elmwood, where it will remain until the hour of the funeral. Burial will be in the Yates City cemetery.
