Estella K. Burger, age 83, Jasper, Indiana, died at her home on Wednesday, November 4, 2009.
She was born at Mt. Vernon, Indiana on December 7, 1925 to Henry and Florence (Blackburn) IKnight. She married Raymond A. Burger on November 3, 1950, he preceded her in death on February 12, 2003.

Preceding her in death besides her husband are 1 son Michael Joseph Burger.
Estella Burger, was a retired Greater Jasper School Teacher, after 20 years of teaching grades one through eighth at various times, and was listed among "Who's Who in Indiana Teachers."
Mrs. Burger graduated from Mt. Vernon High School and graduated from St. Benedict College, Ferdinand, Indiana, followed by graduating from Indiana State University, Terre Haute, Indiana.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and had been active with the Education Commission and Renew groups. In addition, she was with the Cursillo movement and Ultreyea groups.
She was the charter president of the Beta Gamma Chapter of Al[pha Delta Kappa, an Honorary Sorority for teachers.
She was past president of the Tri Kappa active chapter and a member of the Alpha Delta Kappa Chapter, as well as having served on various offices and committees.
In addition, she had served two terms as president of the Twentieth Century Literary Club and had an intense interest in Girl Scouts which was an important part of her life. She was also a member of the Memorial Hospital & Health Care Center Auxiliary Board.
She also was a charter member of ROJAC and an active member of the Oblates of St. Benedict of St. Meinrad Archabbey.
Funeral services for Estella Burger will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday (November 9, 2009) in St. Joseph Catholic Church with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Jasper.
Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until the 2:00 p.m. Service time at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper.
Memorial contributions may be made St. Joseph Catholic Church or to the Sisters of St. Benedict.
