US Congressman. Elected to represent Vermont's 2nd District in the United States House of Representatives, serving from 1849 to 1853. Also served as a Member of the Vermont State House of Representatives in 1835, Member of the Vermont State Senate in 1836, State Court Judge in 1838, Justice of Vermont State Supreme Court in 1842, and Delegate to Vermont State Constitutional Convention in 1857.
