Death: Feb. 1, 1929

Civil War Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient. He was a Sergeant in the Union Army. He was awarded the Medal of Honor as a Private in Company D, 54th Ohio Infantry for action at Vicksburg, Mississippi on May 22, 1863. His citation reads "Gallantry in the charge of the "volunteer storming party". His marker in the cemetery is "Welch". (bio by: Don Morfe)
