H. George Campbell
PEKIN -- H. George Campbell, 78, of rural Pekin died at 1:28 a.m. Thursday, June 24, 2004, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Huddleston Cemetery in rural Alton, Mo., with the Rev. Claude Malone officiating.
Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Yarber Mortuary in Mountain View, Mo.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association Memorial and Tributes Program, Department 77-3968 Chicago, IL 60678-3968.
Noel-Henderson Funeral Home handled local arrangements.
Campbell was born on Nov. 14, 1925, in Thomasville, Mo. to Homer H. and Lennie Reese Campbell. He married Ruby Floyd on Dec. 23, 1944, in Salem, Ark.
Surviving are his wife of Pekin; one son, Gary (Sherrie) Campbell of Pekin; one daughter Nedra (Steve) Stranz of Metamora; one brother, Curtis (Fern) Campbell of Mountain Grove, Mo.; and one sister, Ruth Pennycuick of Willow Springs, Mo.
He was preceded in death by one half brother.
He was a World War II Army Air Force veteran. He served from 1944 to 1946 with 999th air group in Orlando, Fla., attaining the rank of sergeant.
He worked in the scheduling department at Caterpillar Inc. for 31years, retiring in 1978.
He was an auctioneer and antique dealer in the Pekin and Peoria since 1948, last working April of this year.
He was a charter member of the Duck Call Makers and Collectors Association of America, a member of the Midwest Decoy Collectors Association and the Pekin Bottle Club.
He was a member of the Marquette Heights Baptist Church.
