Note: The maiden name is used as "Paxon" in the obituary of her husband, Isaac, in 1915. There are certain family trees on Ancestry.com that use "Elizabeth Jane Paxton", but of interest is that they do not provide the names of her parents/headstone photos, etc. to document the maiden name.

That said, an 1880 U.S. Census record for Jefferson county does show the Isaac Archibald household, with an "Elizabeth Paxton", aged 71, born in PA., listed as 'Mother', presumably of Isaac's wife Elizabeth.

Update: this memorial updated July 22, 2016 with several edit requests. Middle initial "J" added, and maiden name "Paxton" added. Parent relationship links are also being added, but it should be noted that the inscriptions for the parents spell their surname as "Paxston", so obviously there are several variations for family researchers to be aware of.

---------
Wife of Isaac Archibald, married January 1, 1863. To this union were born the following children: Mrs. Cora B. Anderson of Fairfield, Rose Archibald of Cedar Rapids, Mrs. Minnie Barton of Hillsboro, and Jesse M. Archibald whose whereabouts is unknown (as of 1915; in 1935 he was listed in the death notice of his mother as living in Marshalltown, Iowa).

---------
Lockridge Times; Lockridge, Jefferson, Iowa; April 4, 1935

The funeral services of Mrs. Isaac Archibald, who passed away at her home in Rome Monday, was conducted at the Glasgow church by Rev. Toothacre Wednesday afternoon. The body was laid to rest in the Glasgow cemetery by the side of her husband who preceded her in death a number of years ago.

---------
Note: A grandson,
Guy Frank Archibald is also buried in this cemetery, but in an otherwise unmarked grave as far as is known in June 2011.
