Mrs. Abney was born in Alabama, Oct. 29, 1930, daughter of Mrs. Sally Stewart Bell and the late Homer C. Bell. She had lived in Floyd County most of her life, moving to Acworth about 10 years ago. She was a member of Acworth Church of God and was employed by Kennstone Hospital for 10 years as a nurse on the fourth West Wing.
Survivors include the widower, Calvin Abney, to whom she was married Aug. 31, 1949; the mother, Rome; two sons, Mitchell Abney, Atlanta, Phillip Abney, Rome; two daughters, Mrs. Wayne (Diane) Christian, Mrs. Sheron Grady, Riverdale; two brothers, Bill Bell, Cedartown, Ray Bell, Woodstock.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday at North Rome Church of God, with the Revs. Jerry Freeland and Walter Pettite officiating. Interment will be at East View Cemetery.
