At Alfred Centre, N. Y., Feb. 13th, 1876, of general atony, Luke Green, in
the 74th year of his age. He was born in Berlin, Rensselaer county, but became
a citizen of Alfred some fifty years since. After a few years, he engaged in
the business of merchandising, in which he continued up to the time of his
death. As a business man, he was very successful, and has therefore filled an
important place of the community of which he was a member.

His death was unlooked for at this time, and therefore has taken the people
by surprise. He will be very much missed. Bro. Green was a member of the First
Seventh-day Baptist church of Alfred, in the communion of which he had lived for
many years.
