Cecil Dayton Baublit Jr. of Ann Arbor, Michigan

The full life of Cecil Dayton Baublit came to a peaceful end at the glorious age of 86 on June 17, 2011. Cecil was born in Liberty Mills, Indiana, graduated from Peru High School in Indiana, and made Ann Arbor, Michigan his retirement home after residing in numerous other cities throughout the mid-west during his long business career. Cecil Baublit was a strength in any community he lived. He involved himself with Disciples of Christ Churches, organized and participated in hundreds of charitable events, was a Life Member of the Elks Club, and an active member of the Pittsfield Township Senior Center. Cecil was the youngest and longest serving store manager in the history of the historic 125-year-old Montgomery Ward Company that ended in his retirement after forty-five years of dedicated service. Cecil is remembered by his wife, children, and colleagues as a consummate perfectionist and the most courteous and polite person ever encountered. Cecil was preceded in death by his father Cecil Dayton Baublit Sr. and his mother Ruth (Turner) Baublit of Peru, Indiana. Cecil will be greatly missed by his loving wife Mary Lou Baublit of sixty-five years, his sister Martha Clark of Peru, Indiana, and his sister Jean Brown of Kendallville, Indiana. Surviving him are his daughter Deborah Jacobs and husband James of Bloomington, Indiana, his son John Baublit and wife Judy of Ann Arbor & Saline, Michigan, his daughter Pamela Rescorla and husband William of Brighton, Michigan, and his son Thomas Baublit and wife Tammy of Brea, California. Also surviving him are eight grand children and five great-grand children. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, June 20, 2011 at the Nie Family Funeral Home, Carpenter Road Chapel, 2400 Carpenter Road in Ann Arbor, Michigan. A private family interment will take place at Forest Hill Cemetery in Ann Arbor. In lieu of flowers, a donation to Great Lakes Caring (Hospice) Foundation will be greatly appreciated.
