Craftsman D Squadron (Warthog Group) Fitter Section Light Aid Detachment Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers British Army
He was serving with the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards deployed with the UK contingent of NATO forces in Afghanistan.
Cfn Found was killed by an improvised explosive device while on an operation near Adinza'i in the Gereshk Valley area, within the northern Nahr-e Saraj district of Helmand province. He was assessing the damage to a Warthog vehicle disabled by an IED when he was hit by a secondary blast.
Aged 27, he was from Whitby, Yorkshire. He joined the army in December 2006 as a Recovery Mechanic and previously served a tour of Afghanistan in 2009. Preparations for his recent mission included training in western Canada and recovering the Officer Commanding who rolled his vehicle during treacherous weather conditions. In addition to bring a first-class soldier, "Andy" was a specialist, with the demanding task of keeping the Warthog Fighting Vehicle on the road. At 6 feet 6 inches, he was large in presence and in personality. His colleagues remembered him as hard-working and fun-loving, with a sharp wit and great sense of humour.
Cfn Found leaves behind his wife Samantha and their young son Jaxson, his son Michael from a previous relationship, his parents Jennifer and Alan, brother Simon, other relatives and many friends. His family said, "You are the best husband anyone could have wished for; a great dad, friend and you have touched the hearts of many in your life. You loved your job, your family and friends and always loved a good joke." "Andrew died doing the job he loved. Even though we are all in pain now, we will remember the fun, the laughter and all the love he brought to all the people he knew and loved."
Funeral with full military honours was held on July 8, 2011 at St Hilda's Church, West Cliff, Whitby.
