WINNIFRED "WINNIE" NEILSON

RUPERT - Winnie Neilson, 62, passed away on November 5, 2003 at her home in Rupert.

Winnie was born July 29, 1941, in Elgin, Nev. to Fred and Mabel Bodenhofer. She was raised and went through school at Hailey. She married Gary Williams and they had three sons, Kevin, Curtis and Kim Williams. She was later divorced.

She lived for many years in Idaho Falls. She moved to Rupert in 1984 and married her sweetheart Glenn Neilson in 1985. She worked for the Bank of Idaho in Idaho Falls and then transferred to the Burley bank in 1984 where she worked until 1997. At the time of her illness she was working for the Office on Aging through College of Southern Idaho.

Winnie enjoyed life so much, especially fishing and snowmobiling with her husband, Glenn. She belonged to a group of gals that called themselves "The Pigs." Her name was "Lard." The Pigs did many fun things including the many trips they took together and floating the river. They were very special friends.

Winnie is survived by her husband, Glenn Neilson of Rupert; her sons Kevin (Kellie) Williams of Rupert, Curtis (Julie) Williams of Idaho Falls; her sisters Colleen Hayslip of Gooding and Betty (Bob) Hambleton of Burley; her brother Mike Bodenhofer of Kennewick, Wash.; her stepchildren Steve (Marcie) Neilson of Rupert, Sally Neilson of Boise; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a special "adopted sister" Gerri Kimzey.

Winnie was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Kim Williams, her sister, Arlene Coates and a special stepson, Scott Neilson.

Cremation was under the direction of Parke's Magic Valley Funeral Home. A memorial is planned for Friday, Nov. 14, at 1 p.m., next to the river by the Neilson residence at 700 East 250 North, Rupert.

In lieu of flowers a Winnie Neilson memorial fund to help with medical expenses has been set up at Zion's Bank in Burley for anyone wishing to donate.
