The Oklahoman, Sunday, Sep 23, 1951:
Emil F. Meis, 66, of 1620 NW 24, died in his home Saturday after an illness of 5 1/2 years. Meis had lived in Oklahoma City since 1923 and served as state representative of the US Chamber of Commerce here in 1940.

Born in Oversville, IN(?), he moved to Lawton with his parents in 1900. In 1906 he opened the Meis Grocery in Lawton which he operated until coming to Oklahoma City.

For many years he was associated with the Oklahoma Packing Company. He was a member of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, the Chamber of Commerce, and a 4th degree Knight of Columbus. Services are pending with Smith & Kernke Funeral Home.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs Anna B. Meis, of the home; a son, Maj. Emil F. Meis Jr, Fort Sill; five sisters, Mrs Mae Feuerborn, 1215 NW 13; Mrs Fred Aaron, 110 1/2 NW 24; Mrs Carl Westerman, 1025 NW 25; Sister June Frances, San Antonio, TX; and Mrs Lois Mosely, Kansas City, MO; three brothers, Z.M. Meis, Davenport, IA; Henry Meis, 904 NW 7;
and Rev. Ferdinand F. Meis, Sterling; and two grandchildren.
