She was born in Fort Lupton, Colo., and had lived in Cheyenne and Ithaca, N.Y., before moving to South Carolina.

She was a member of Central Presbyterian Church in Anderson, where she was a member of the Fellowship Sunday School class, the Dorcas Circle and the Centralites.
Mrs. Howard is survived by a daughter, Michele Alexander of Anderson; one son, Jeffrey Howard of Anderson; two sisters, Elizabeth Comer of Goose Creek, S.C., and Ellade M. Conkey of Laramie; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Scott Howard; and her parents, Friend E. and Io Gifford Johnson.
