Obituary.
Published in The Irish Times, 30 March 1965.

The death has occurred in a Dublin hospital of Mr. Peadar O'hAnnrachain, the poet and author. Mr. O'hAnnrachain, who was 90, was born in Skibbereen, Co. Cork. He was one of the early organisers for the Gaelic League.

He began to take an active interest in the league in 1900, and once cycled 40 miles to hear a lecture about the league's activities. In the following year, he applied successfully for a position of organiser. He became one of the first of the league's travelling teachers. He held this post until 1918 and took an active interest in the workings of the league up to a short time ago.

He took a prominent part in the War of Independence and was interned at Reading, Wakefield, and Beare Island, Co. Cork. He wrote on many political issues in both Irish and English, and in 1944 his book "Fe Bhrat An Chomartha" was published. This was a diary of the Gaelic League's everyday activities. He was the author of other books.

He was the editor of various Gaelic papers and was the editor of "The Southern Star". Some of his poems were published in book form.

He is survived by his wife, four sons and two daughters.
