"Avoca – Anise L. Barnes, 89, of Barnes Road died February 19, 1987 at the home of her son Edward W. Barnes in Zepyrhills FL. She was born April 11, 1897 in Cohocton, the daughter of William and Mary Fairbrother Jackson. She married Leon Barnes October 31, 1917 in Avoca. Having lived most of her life in area, she recently spent winters in Zephyrhills. She had been a foster mother of many children over the years and a member of the Avoca Grange. Survivors include her husband of 69 years, four sons; Edward of Florida, Glen of Glen Cove, Long Island, Harold of Clearwater FL and Vernon of Little Rock AR, a daughter, Dorleah Stewart of Avoca and Arlene Preston of West Rutland VT, one sister, Evelyn Drake of Dunedin FL, 15 grandchildren, 16 g.grandchildren, and one g.g.grandchild, several nieces and nephews. Burial in Valley View Cemetery, Avoca."
