Mrs. Thelma Elouise Hurley, age 87, of Newport, passed away Monday June 6, 2011. She was a member of Rankin Missionary Baptist Church.
Mrs. Hurley was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Lydia Hensley,five infant brothers and sisters; sisters Grace Ayers and Martha Smith; brothers, Hardy Hensley and Albert Hensley; and niece Marie Renner.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Ivan Hurley of the home; daughter ad son-in-law, Peggy and Wayne Blackwell of Newport; granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Lisa and Danny Chapman of Newport; great-grandchildren, Brandon Brown, Brad Antrican, and Jeremy Jones all of Newport; sister and brother-in-law, Jo and George Fortner of Greenville; brother, Hubert Hensley; brother and sister-in-law, Ross and Viola Hensley; sister-in-law, Dorothy Hensley, all of Johnson City. Additional survivors include several nieces and nephews including Shirley Moore, Beth McDaniel, and Sherry Moody all of Newport.
The funeral serv ice will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday, June 9, 2011 at Costner-Maloy Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jackie Caldwell and Pastor Artie Strum officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening June 8, 2011 at Costner-Maloy Funeral Home.
