Gladys E. Grimes, 64, of South Mapleton Street died at 6:35 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 17, 1995, at her home.
She was a member of World of Pentecost.
Funeral will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Myers Funeral Service, Hathaway-Myers Chapel on Pearl Street, with the Rev. Reggie McLaurine and Bud Combs officiating. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 1 p.m. until service time Wednesday. Burial will be at New Harmony Cemetery at Mineral Springs.
Memorials may be made to Bartholomew County Area Hospice.
Mrs. Grimes was born in Glasgow, Ky., Aug. 24, 1931, the daughter of Bessie Jeffries Purdue of Azalia and the late Charles B. Purdue. She married Dal L. Grimes Sr. in 1952 at Brownstown. He survives.
Also surviving as sons, James Dallas Grimes and Dal Grimes Jr., both of Columbus; daughters, Deborah S. Olmsted and Sandra F. Corona Burton, both of Columbus, Joyce L. Vera of Bakersfield, Calif., and Tammy J. Shepherd of Brown County; brothers, James Purdue of Scipio and Bill Purdue of Azalia; sisters, Edna M. Turner of Columbus and Bessie Bowman of Elizabethtown; 14 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter and a brother.
