Betty R. Cowell, 71, formerly of East Otis
EAST OTIS -- Betty R. Cowell, 71, of 2425 Tucson Circle, Lake Wales, Fla., formerly of East Otis, died Friday at Berkshire Medical Center after suffering a heart attack while vacationing at the home of her daughter, Roberta Skowron of Stockbridge. Born in Springfield on Oct. 29, 1928, daughter of Willard and Cora Haywood Clow, she was a 1945 graduate of Springfield Technical High School. After graduation, she moved to East Otis, where she resided until moving to Florida in 1980. She and her husband, Leon A. Crowell, whom she married Oct. 29, 1947, traveled extensively throughout the world. She also enjoyed gardening. Besides her husband and daughter, she leaves another daughter, JoAnn Iacobacci of Frost Proof, Fla.; a brother, Willard Clow of Indian Lakes, Fla., and a granddaughter. Another daughter, Peggy Cowell, died in 1980. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Mrs. Cowell also leaves her beloved granddaughter, Samantha Iacobacci. A memorial service will be held Wednesday at 1 at KELLY FUNERAL HOME in Lee, with a family member, Robert Carrington of Westfield, officiating. Burial will follow in Otis Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from noon Wednesday until the time of the service. Burial will follow in Otis Cemetery. Friends wishing may make donations to a charity of their choice.
