German Biologist and Politician. She was born in Berlin-Mitte. After the evacuation she and her family come back to Berlin in 1945. She studied biology at the Humboldt-Universität in Berlin from 1959 to 1964. In 1966 she married Jörg Hildebrandt and become the mother of three children. She was working for the pharmaceutical industry and awarded a doctorate for research on medicines in 1978. Then she appointed a leading position at the centre for the study of diabetics. In October 1989 she joined the Social Democrats and became a key figure of the party in Brandenburg. Hildebrandt was honour with the Audience- and Media award "Goldene Henne" in 1997. On her 60s Birthday she was awarded the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany. In July 1996 she was diagnostic with Breast Cancer and died of it aged 60.
