Sterling D. Knauff, 50, a well-known farmer of near Winfield, died Wednesday at his home on Arthur Shipley Road following a lengthy illness. He was the husband of Mrs. Ethel Strine Knauff and a son of the late John J. and Grace A. Knauff. Surviving are his wife and two daughters: Mrs. Ralph Cornett and Mrs. Douglas Bowlin, both of Sykesville. Five sisters: Miss Ivy (Iva?) Knauff of near Winfield; Mrs. Mammie Robinson; Mrs. Alma Zang; Mrs. Mary Petersen; and Mrs. Edith Hauenstein, all of Baltimore; a brother, Truman Knauff of Baltimore; and one grandchild. Friends may call at the Waltz Funeral Home, Liberty Road, Winfield, today from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 2 to 9 p.m. Services will be held at the funeral home Saturday at 2 p.m. conducted by the Rev. E. Kyle Sawyers, pastor of Calvary Methodist Church at Gambers. Burial will be in Sam's Creek Church of the Brethren Cemetery near New Windsor.
