Specialist 4th Class George Rowland Jr., 20, of South Fork in Casey on the Lincoln line, was killed in Viet Nam while serving with the Army on February 27, 1967. He was killed in action.
He was born May 22, 1946. He is son of George and Helen Tinsley Rowland. His paternal grandmother is Mrs. Mary Reynolds, and His maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Tinsley.
He was inducted into the Army on January 17, 1966, after attending two years at Casey County High School.
He was with Company B of the First Cavalry Division, Airborne.
Besides his parents he was a brother of Mary Rose and Jennie Lou, Larry and Roger Rowland, all living at home.
Funeral services were held at the Mt. Salem Baptist Church on Tuesday of this week.
Miller Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Burial was in the Buffalo Springs Cemetery at Stanford.
His name is on the Lincoln County Courthouse Monument listing those that died in Viet Nam at Panel 15 E Line 108.
