" Levi Sellers Braddock was born on the 4th of July, 1844, in Knox County, Ohio, the son of Joshua 1818-1874 and Margaret [Durbin] Braddock 1819-1898. Levi was a farmer and later post office worker/clerk. He comes from an easily traceable, very long line of Braddocks; Levi Sellers Braddock 1844-1928; Joshua Braddock II 1818-1874; Joshua Braddock 1781-1837; David Braddock 1755-1814; Raphael Braddock 1730-1803, born England, died Pennsylvania. Levi S. Braddock died on the 24th of January, 1928, in Franklin County, Ohio. Levi was first married to Elizabeth J. "Lizzy" Brumbaugh 1848-1884 on the 23rd of December, 1866, in Knox County, Ohio. They had three daughters; Mary E. Braddock, born 12 April 1872, Knox Co.; Stella Mariatta Braddock 1874-1960, married John Vess; and unknown named female infant, died 13 February, 1868. Elizabeth J. "Lizzy" Brumbaugh was born in December, 1848, in Knox County, Ohio, daughter of Daniel Brumbaugh, and she died on the 5th of June, 1884, unknown location. The widowed Levi Sellers Braddock was married a second time to Emma Jane Reeder 1861-1925 on the 3rd of December, 1884 in Knox County, Ohio. @ Source: Marriage Records, Knox County, Ohio, volume 4, page 173. Levi and Emma Jane had four children; Mina Belle "Minnie" Braddock 1885-1969, married James Dwight Dean 1885-1950; Allen Joshua Braddock 1886, married Eva Swingle; Bessie A. Braddock 1888, married _______ Simpkins, to Akron; and Irene Braddock 1898-1983, married Jack Ansel Pilkington, who was born 20 October, 1894. Emma Jane Reeder was born on the 1st of September, 1861, the daughter of Wilson Reeder, she died on the 20th of November, 1925, in unknown location, and is buried with her husband in the Morris Chapel Cemetery, Mount Vernon, Ohio. Levis's father, Joshua Braddock, was born on the 4th of May, 1818, in Knox County, Ohio, the son of Joshua 1781-1837 and Susanne [Sellers] Braddock 1783-1870. Joshua 1818, aged 56 years, a farmer, died from an accident involving a horse on the 5th of December, 1874 in Morris township of Knox County, Ohio. Levi's mother, Margaret Durbin, was born on the 25th of July, 1819 in Knox County, the daughter of Samuel 1782-1822 and Rebecca [Collins] Durbin 1783-1852. Margaret died on the 24th of February, 1898, in Ohio, and is also buried in the Morris Chapel Cemetery. Joshua 1818 and Margaret Braddock had at least seven children; Thomas Jefferson Braddock 1841-1919, married Isabella Shipley; Levi Sellers Braddock 1844-1928, whom is the subject of this sketch; Elizabeth Braddock 1846, married James McGinley b. 1846; John Durbin Braddock 1848-1927, married Minerva McIntire; James A. Braddock 1848-1893, married Nora A. Phillips b. 1851; Rebecca Ellen Braddock 1851, married James Arthur; and Emeline Braddock, born 10 March, 1840. The grandfather, Joshua Braddock, was born on the 19th of March, 1781, in Washington County, Pennsylvania, the son of David Braddock 1755-1814 and Annie Bowers 1755, and he died on the 9th of January, 1837 in Knox County. Joshua 1781 was credited with killing 54 bears during his residence in Morris Township, Knox County, Ohio. The grandmother, Susanne Sellers, was born on the 15th of October, 1783 and died on the 2nd of May, 1870.
