George Tallifierro Ward
Birth: 1810
Death: May 5, 1862

CSA Congressman, Civil War Confederate Army Officer. Born in Fayette County, Kentucky, he moved with his family to the panhandle of Florida in 1825. He became a successful planter and banker. He was an unsuccessful candidate for both Governor of Florida and United States Senate, but in 1861 he was elected to the Confederate Congress. Later that year he was elected Colonel of the 2nd Florida Infantry Regiment. The following year he resigned his congressional seat and was sent with his unit to Virginia, where he was killed during the May 5, 1862 Battle of Williamsburg.
