Samuel David Webster was born June 15, 1852, at Geneva, New York to Samuel Webster Sr. and Euphemia (Angus) Webster. At the age of fifteen he came west with his parents and located at Waukon, Iowa. In 1875 he removed to Fremont Co., Iowa, and in 1895 came to Nora Springs, coming to Murray county the following with his family. Four years ago he and wife and younger son removed to Adams County, North Dakota, residing on a homestead until last October, when he returned to Scandia on account of ill health. The change at first seemed to be a benefit to him, but it was only temporary and he was confined to his home since January. He was never a strong man and two years ago became a victim of paralysis of the respiratory organs. His suffering was intense at times, especially during the last month.
He identified himself with the Presbyterian Church at the age of fourteen and all his life he strove to serve his Master and further the cause of Christianity.
In 1882 he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Murray at Village Creek, Iowa. She with their five children, Mrs. Margaret Fresk; of Lowville: Mrs. Georgia Bosch, of Scandia; Mrs. Helen Trullinger, of Carrington, North Dakota; Norman and Donald at home, remain to mourn the loss of a kind husband and father. All the children were with him at the last except Mrs. Margaret Fresk, who was confined to her bed, suffering from a fractured limb. "Be ye faithful unto death and I will give thee a crown of life."—Contributed
