Her early life was spent in Morrisville and Wolcott where she attended People's Academy. She was married to Frank Doying and they were the parents of eight children. Frank died in 1923 and she didn't remarry until 1934; her second husband died less than a year after their marriage. She had lived in Montpelier for 33 years where she was a member of Trinity Methodist Church. She was also a past president and charter member of the Auxiliary of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War and had served as honorary chaplain during past years. She died as the result of an automobile accident in which she was returning from a visit to her daughters' home in Pennsylvania.
