Services for Mr. Robert L. "Son" McCarty, 86, will be 10 AM Saturday March 26, 2011 at First Baptist Church Wisner with Rev. Thomas Peoples officiating. Interment will follow at South Central Cemetery under the direction of Gill First National Funeral Home Winnsboro.
Mr. McCarty was born on November 9, 1924 in Sicily Island and passed from this life on Wednesday March 23, 2011 at Mary Anna Nursing Home Wisner.
He was a resident of Wisner, a member of First Baptist Church and served with the United States Navy during WWII.
He is preceded in death by his wife Carolyn B. McCarty, daughter Linda Ensminger, sisters Hazel Smith, Ethel Batey and Juanita Conn, brother Charlie "Buddy" McCarty.
Survivors include his children Brenda McCarty Pirtle and husband Otis of Henderson, Texas, Marc McCarty and wife Katie of Wisner and Douglas Etter of White, Georgia; grandchildren Paula Isom, Tenna Oswald, Cherri Miller, Bryan Morgan, Craig Morgan, Alison McCarty, Drew McCarty, Lance Etter and Breanna Etter also survived by 8 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Drew McCarty, Wiley McClary, Bryan Morgan, Trey Kiper, Pat Pierce, Curtis Tyson and Jesse Young.
