U.S. Congressman, U.S. Senator. He graduated from the University of Notre Dame Indiana, in 1922, from the law department of Harvard University in 1925, was admitted to the bar in 1925 and commenced to practice law in Pocatello, Idaho. He was the Assistant Attorney General of Idaho, (1933-35). In 1935, he was elected as a Democrat to the Seventy-fourth and Seventy-fifth Congresses, serving until 1939. Not seeking re-nomination, he was elected as a Democrat to the United States Senate, serving (1939-45). After his term, he resumed the practice of law, plus was interested in broadcasting and banking until his death at age 53 from a heart attack. (bio by: John "J-Cat" Griffith)
