Key Pittman
Birth: Sep. 19, 1872
Death: 1940

United States Senator. Born in Vicksburg, Mississippi he moved to Seattle, Washington to practice law after being admitted to the bar in 1892. In 1897 he went to the Klondike to search for gold. In 1902 he moved to the boom town of Tonopah, Nevada, to mine for silver. During this time he continued to practice law and became involved in state politics. He was appointed to represent his adopted state at the St. Louis World's Fair, the Lewis and Clark Exposition and the Irrigation Congress. In 1910 he lost his bid to be elected to the United States Senate, but won a Senate seat in a special election three years later. He remained in the U.S. Senate until his death. He won re-election to a fifth complete term in 1940 but died before he could return to Washington D.C. (bio by: Bigwoo)
