Françoise Dorleac
Birth: Mar. 21, 1942
Death: Jun. 26, 1967

Actress. Born the eldest of four daughters of film actor Maurice Dorléac and Renée Deneuve in Paris, France. She first appeared on stage at the age of 10, and made her film debut in the movie short "Mensonges" in 1957. She studied at the Conservatoire d'Art Dramatique, supporting herself as a model for Christian Dior. She appeared in "Les portes claquent" (1960) with her sister, Catherine Deneuve. Her break out came with twin roles in 1964 with Francois Truffaut's "La Peau Douce" and the spoof "That Man from Rio". She appeared in "Young Girls of Rochefort" in 1967 again with younger sister, Catherine. As her star power grew, she took roles in non-French films such as "Genghis Khan" and "Where the Spies Are" in 1965. In June of 1967, while finishing work on "Billion Dollar Brain", Dorleac was killed when her Renault crashed and burned on the Esterel-Côte d'Azur motorway just outside of Nice, France. She was 26. Her last film was released posthumously. (bio by: Iola)
