James Ira Hurt Sr., 85, 259 Shasta Ave., died March 26, 1971. He was a resident of San Antonio, Texas, for 49 years.
Great grandfather Hurt was a charter member of Cameron Lodge No. 76 AF&AM, Yorktown, Texas and past master of Llando, Texas Lodge No. 756 AF&AM.
His survivors included Mrs. Jane Schneider-Hurt, his wife; daughters, Mrs. Iris Jeanette Brooks, Mrs. Russell Littlefield, Mrs. Evelyn Jane Hubble, all of San Antonio, Mrs. Lela May Barbeau of Roy, New Mexico; sons, Mr. Luell Hurt and Mr. James Ira Hurt, Jr., both of San Antonio; sisters, Mrs. Florence Love, San Antonio, Mrs. Albert Mercer, New Braunfels, Tex; brother, Mr. John Beaufort Hurt, San Antonio; 12 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren. Services were conducted at 3 p.m. Monday, March 29, 1971 at the Roy Ackers Funeral Chapels, 515 N. Main Ave., Rev. Earl Willis officiating. That was followed by Masonic graveside services under the auspices of Virtuary Masonic Lodge No. 1160 AF&AM with internment in the Mission Burial Park.
