Donald Ray Beikman, PhD, age 82, of Little York, Indiana died Sunday, January 6, 2008 at his residence. He was born December 29, 1925 in Salem, Indiana, the son of the late Edwin and Alice (Garriott) Beikman. Donald was married November 3, 1951 to Elizabeth (Herner) Beikman, who survives.
Don was a Professor of Music at the University of Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania retiring in 1988 and was also the former Professor of Music at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA. where he worked for 10 years. Donald was a member of the Church of the American Martyrs in Scottsburg, Indiana, where he served as the church organist.
Survivors in addition to his wife include two sons: Stephen J. Beikman of Hudson, New Hampshire & Thomas J. Beikman of Rochester, New Hampshire; five daughters: Theresa C. Buhot, Alice A. Casey & Susan M. Beikman all of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Anita M. Griffith of Cincinnati, Ohio & Mary Catherine Malia of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Donald was was preceded in death by a brother: Richard Lee Beikman.
