Carroll Donovan Decker, 95, formerly of Factoryville, died Sunday, Mar. 2, 2008, in the Golden Living Center, Tunkhannock, where he had been a resident for six years. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former LaMyra Keeling Decker, in 1999, and by his first wife, the former Dorothy Dierauer, in 1981.
Born in North Abington Township, son of the late Edwin and Florence Decker, he was a retired dairy farmer and owned and operated Decker's Dairy in Factoryville for many years. He was a well-known dairyman in the raising and breeding of Ayrshire Dairy Cows and had the largest herd of Ayrshires in the United States in the 1950s.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Abington, Waverly. He was a graduate of Scranton Business College and was a 50-year member of Factoryville Lodge 341, F&AM. He was a member of the Factoryville Men's Civic Club, where he held the office of treasurer for many years.
Surviving are a sister, Delna Bruce, Ohio; a stepdaughter, Janet M. Carpenter, New Jersey; step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Roger; and three sisters, Janice, Doris and Clarice.
The funeral was be Monday, Mar. 10, at the Anthony P. Litwin Funeral Home, Reynolds and Capwell streets, Factoryville, with services by the Rev. Paul Fields II.
Interment, Evergreen-Woodlawn Cemetery, Factoryville.
