Tinsley White Rucker, Jr
Birth: Mar. 24, 1848
Death: Nov. 18, 1926

US Congressman. Born in near Farm Hill, Georgia, He was attending the Georgia Military Academy when he joined the Confederate Army and served from 1864, until the end of the Civil War. After the war, he graduated from the law department of the University of Georgia, in 1868, was admitted to the bar in 1871 and commenced to practice law in Athens, Georgia. He was appointed by President Cleveland as assistant United States district attorney for the northern district of Georgia and served (1893-1912). In 1917, he elected as a Democrat to the Sixty-fourth Congress to fill the vacancy caused by the death of United States Representative Samuel J. Tribble and served the remainder of that term. Not a candidate for re-nomination, he resumed the practice of law until his death at age 77 in Athens, Georgia. (bio by: John "J-Cat" Griffith)
