Services Here Saturday--Lived In County More Than Half Century

Funeral services for Andrew Berryman, of Edina, who died early last Thursday morning, Sept. 27, 1951, were at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon at the Christian Church in Edina, conducted by the Rev. J. L. Shoemaker of Shelbina. Burial was in Linville Cemetery here. He had been ill for some time and was taken the day before to the Gibson Hospital here, where death came due to cancer and complications. He was 76 years old and had been a resident of Knox County since he was 22 years old.

Surviving are his wife and four children; Elza Berryman, Detroit, Mich; Floyd Berryman of Edina; Mrs. Maurita Loveless of Kirksville and Miss Bernice Berryman of St. Louis. He is survived also by a brother, Shelton Berryman, of Rutledge and three sisters, Mrs. Mary Nix of Santa Rosa, Calif.; Mrs. Emma Snelling of Ft. Madison, Iowa, and Mrs. Charles Carder of Hannnibal, Mo., and two grandchildren, Mrs. Glenn Slates of Washington, D. C., and Wayne Loveless of Kirksville, Mo.

Mr. Berryman, or Andy Berryman as he was usually called, was one of eleven children of Thomas Jefferson and Josphine King Berryman and he was born Oct. 16, 1874, in Estil County, Kentucky. He came with his parents to Knox County in 1896 and they settled on a farm northeast of Edina. Mr. Berryman was married Dec. 3, 1903, to Miss Laura Dell Longfellow at Rutledge, and to them were born four children mentioned.

Mr. and Mrs. Berryman moved from their farm northeast of town to Edina ten years ago. He united with the Christian Church Aug. 27, 1906, at Knox City. Two sisters and two brothers preceded Mr. Berryman in death when the family lived in Kentucky and two brothers died here in this county, Silas Berryman July 15, 1940 and Dudley Berryman March 30, 1950.
