He was united in marriage to Frances Kappelmann May 10, 1941, at St. John Gildehaus Church.
Mr. Buhr received his education at St. Francis Borgia Grade School and High School.
He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church, the Hummingbird Club, Sharp Shooters and the Buhrs Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Alfred, Emil and Tom Buhr; and one sister, Marie Gildehaus.
He is survived by his wife, Frances, nee Kappelmann, Washington; two sons, Leon Buhr and wife Helen, New Haven, and John Buhr and wife Linda, Villa Ridge; five daughters, Donna Himmelberg and husband Robert, and Mary Baucom and husband Bill, all of Washington, Betty Kampschroeder and husband Ed, Wilmington, N.C., Kelly Schweissguth and husband Burt, Dutzow, and Vicky Dotson and husband Fred, Lakeland, Fla.; one sister, Noemi Halmich, Washington; 20 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
A memorial Mass was held Saturday, Feb. 4, at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Washington.
Memorials to Our Lady of Lourdes Church or the St. Vincent de Paul Society are preferred.
