Into the house of Cyrus and Etta J. Gray a baby girl was born on May 19, 1889. The place of her birth was Santa Rosa, Calif. To this babe was given the name, Lena May. When just past two years of age she was brought by her parents to their former house in Rice county Kansas and live in the Pollard community, north of Lyons. By the age of 11, Lena became acquainted with sorrow in the passing of her dear mother. Moving with her father to Lyons, where she received her education, graduating from Lyons High School in the class of 1910 after which she taught at the Kansas Center school. She also received training in music. On June 4, 1912 she became the bride of Adolph D. Kimple. To this union God gave two daughters and four sons. One son, Chester passed away in infancy in June 1922. Lena was possessed of a deeply spiritual mature and in girlhood gave her heart to Christ, joining the Lyons Methodist Church. She loved every department of the church work and gave of time, prayers and means to forward the Kingdom of God.

Dear little mother, a gift from above, filled all her years with labor and love.
Quiet of voice and gentle of mind, Queenly was she and ever the same.

Lived for her family, her her friends and her Lord
Never hurt any by action or word.
Ready to lift where her help was needed,
never good cause was forgotten, unheeded.

Proud of the man who took her as bride,
Welcomed her baby with arms open wide.
Dreamed of that day when each one should stand
Honored and needed by his native land

Loved by her neighbors for grace, rich and rare,
Loved by her pastors, who's burdens she'd share.
Loved by the youth their way comprehended,
Loved by the aged, their frailness attended.

Suffered long months, yet ne're complaining.
Trusting her Lord, with all strength remaining.
Commendng her all, to His are and grace,
Trustful that here was the "well prepared" place.

Lessons she taught, will live in our mind,
Truths she held sacred and sections so blind.
Love she bestowed in measure, abundant,
Praise, sweetly given, but never redundant.

Not far away-this mother so sweet
waiting like Mary at the dear Master's feet
Watching in patience, till that day when we,
The family united about her shall be.

Suppressing for her sake, the tear and the sigh,
remembering that love and souls do no die.
Carrying forward the plans that she made,
Building in love on foundations she laid.

Gone is the cross which she patiently bore,
Freed is her spirit thru earth's prison door.
Resting at last released from all pain,
Safe in the land where the Father doth reigh.
