Conroe Courier:

Sandra Vae Green Rozell, 75, died peacefully Wednesday evening, May 25, 2011 at her home in Conroe, Texas. Her loving daughters were at her side.

Sandra was born on November 6, 1935 in Port Arthur, Texas to James William Green and Priscilla Irene Jones. She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1954 and attended Port Arthur Business College in Port Arthur, now known as Lamar State College - Port Arthur. A mother of four, she lived overlooking the water of Lake Forest Falls in Conroe since 1975. Known in her neighborhood as "The Duck Lady", she cared for the lake's many wild duck and geese, often raising their young chicks to adulthood in order to protect them from predators. She was a retired nurse and worked in retirement as a bus driver for Conroe ISD, a job she dearly loved. She loved to spend her time outdoors overlooking the lake, fishing, traveling, and playing with her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father, James William Green; sister, Grace D. Green; and infant daughter Rebecca Ann Rozell.

She is survived by her two daughters, Kimberly Rozell and Krista Rozell, of Conroe; son Brent Rozell and wife Susan of Port Neches; grandsons Alex and Eric Rozell; sister Margaret J. Irby and husband Frank of Wimberley, TX; brother John R. Green and wife Marilyn of Conroe, brother William E. Green and wife Dottie of Port Arthur; numerous nieces and nephews; and her faithful and loyal friend Shang. She will be dearly missed by everyone who loved her.

A graveside Memorial Service is planned for 10:00am Saturday, June 11, 2011 at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 3900 Twin City Hwy, Groves, TX. Pastor Kyle Morton of First Baptist Church in Port Arthur will preside. A gathering of her family and friends will follow at the fellowship hall of Central Baptist Church, 4545 Hwy 73, Port Arthur, TX. 77641.

Flowers may be sent in care of Greenlawn Memorial Park. Memorial donations can be made to Heart To Heart Hospice Memorial Fund, 400 North Sam Houston Parkway East, Suite 310, Houston, TX. 77060 or to The Friendship Center, Meals On Wheels Program, 1202 Callahan, Conroe, TX. 77301.
