'Alex' was the proprietor of a wagon-making business in Steubenville, Ohio. He volunteered for military service on May 15, 1864 and served about 100 days until mustered out on September 2, 1864. He was a private with Co. G of the 157 Ohio Volunteers and a guard at Fort Delaware but left that service near death from Consumption. "Alex" and Margaret had 9 children of whom 7 lived to adult old age. Five of those are buried in either Union or Washington Cemetery.
