Gertie Mae, 84, of Hixson, died at her residence. She was a member of New Salem Baptist Church. Mrs. Sanders was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Sanders; and a brother, Fred Belk. She is survived by her daughter, Louise Schwichtenberg and husband, Jerry, of St.Joseph, Mo.; son, J.P. Ford and wife, Joy, of Soddy-Daisy; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and brothers, Houston Belk of Sweetwater, Tn., and Verbon Belk of Calhoun, Tn.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with the Rev. Ted Painter officiating. Interment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
