Percussionist, Bongo Player and Singer. Born Michael Norman Finn in Thornton Heath, Surrey, England. Before his fame, he worked as a painter and as a shopworker. In 1969, after viewing an ad for T. Rex searching for a replacement of Steve Peregrin Took, he became the percussionist and sideman to Marc Bolan in his band T. Rex. With bassist Steve Currie & drummer Bill Legend, they released many hit albums and singles, gaining much popularity during their active years in the 1970s. After Bolan and T. Rex's demise, he worked as a session musician for The Blow Monkeys and The Soup Dragons. During that time Mickey also decided to open up his very own antique shop. During the late 1980s and early 1990s, he made a handful of guest appearances with the West London rock band Checkpoint Charlie. In autumn 1997, he also appeared with ex-T. Rex drummer Paul Fenton at a Cambridge show commemorating the 20th anniversary of Marc Bolan's death. This led to a decision to re-form T. Rex with a lineup including Finn, Fenton and four other musicians. The group toured as Mickey Finn's T-Rex and in 2002, they released a studio album called Renaissance. Mickey Finn's T-Rex continued to tour until Finn's untimely death on January 11, 2003 at the age of 55. In 2020, Finn was posthumously inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of T. Rex.
