Willard Marlow Fataly Hurt on Railroad.
Williard Marlow, age 18, who lived on the mountain between Cowan and Sherwood, last night died from injuries received when the "pusher" locomotive of NC & St. L Railroad backed over him as he slept on the tracks. Both legs were severed below the knees.
He was waiting to get a ride on the pusher above Sherwood to near his home. He laid down on the tracks and went to sleep. The engine, backing around a curved, struck him. He was taken to the hospital as Sewanee where he died a few hours later.
He is survived by his wife and baby. The funeral was held Saturday at the Garner cemetery above Sherwood.
