James E. Bragg, 76, of 336 Capitol Ave., Clarksburg, died at 4:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 20, 1998, at his residence. He was born Aug. 17, 1922, in Kingwood, a son of the late William Russell Bragg and Venetia Idessa "Dessie" Smith Bragg. His wife, L. Maxine Radcliff Bragg, whom he married June 20, 1944, survives. Also surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law, James D. and Beverly Bragg and John A. and Cynthia Bragg, all of Orlando, Fla., and Ronald E. and Charolette Bragg, Bridgeport; five grandchildren, Mrs. Jason (Carissa M.) Mastry, Heather A., Scott D., Jamie L. and M. Allison Bragg; two brothers, George D. Bragg, Wellington, Ohio and Charles R. Bragg, Fort Morgan, Colo., and several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his twin brother, John L. Bragg and one half brother, Harold Spiker. Mr. Bragg was a member of East Clarksburg Baptist Church, where he served as a trustee and usher. He retired in 1985 from Union Carbide with 35 years service and was a member of the Organization of Chemical Atomic Workers Local 3276. He was a U.S. Army Air Force veteran of World War II. Friends will be received from 12:30-2:30 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Sunday, and 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Monday at Davis-Weaver Funeral Home, 329 East Main St., Clarksburg. The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Jack Snoderly officiating. Church officials will serve as honorary casket bearers; Jack Whitney, Walter Crites, Art Malcolm, Brad Loudin, Don Amos, Ernest Sturm, James Wickenhofer and Rick Colvin. Interment will follow in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens where the honor guard of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 573 and American Legion Post 13 will conduct military graveside rites. In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to People's Hospice or East Clarksburg Baptist Church.
