"LaTrelle Lanier Ethridge,91, born June 1,2011,died June 1,2011. Born in White Plains,she was the daughter of the late Walter Stone and Gertrude Smith Lanier,and was also preceded in death by her husband of 61 years,James Aldon Ethridge.She was a graduate of Crawford High School( Georgia) and Rhinehart College. She taught elementary school for many years in Georgia and Alaska. With her husband and family she lived in Japan and Turkey and in Georgia,Tennessee,Arizona,Texas,Nebraska,California,and Alaska. She also traveled to numerous countries in Europe,Asia, and North Africa.Wherever she went, she became active in civic,social,academic,and religious circles and made dear friends for a lifetime. She was an avid bridge player and was a member of a number of bridge groups.She was a gracious hostess,entertainer, teacher,and friend. She was a loving wife,mother,aunt,grandmother,and great grandmother. Mrs.Ethridge made her home in Comer,since 1973,and was a member of Comer United Methodist Church, Comer Woman's Club. and Athens Woman's Club.Survivors include .... - siblings Harold Lanier of Clermont, Rene Lanier of Dalton, Agnes Perry of Macon, and Rozzie Lanier of Crawford...- numerous nieces and nephews.Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 4,2011 at the Comer United Methodist Church, with the Revs. Hugh Hendrickson and Mike McLemore officiating. Interment will follow in the Comer Cemetery.Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Pendleton, Calvin Smith,Pete Porterfield,Jack Carlson,Ken MacKenzie,and Wade Grant.The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 6-8p.m. Flowers are optional. Memorials may be made to Comer UMC Education Outreach Fund,226 Main Street,Comer,GA 30629,Reinhardt University,Offfice of Development,7300 Reinhardt Circle,Waleska,GA 31083, or a charity of your choice. Lord & Stephens, Danielsville, is in charge of arrangements."
