Nettie A. May, 83, 418 Beechwood, widow of Vane May, died Wednesday evening at Delaware County Nursing Home following an extended illness. She was born in Jay County and moved to Muncie as a child. She attended Harrison School.

Mrs. May was employed in the office of the Center Township Trustee for several years and was manager of Muncie auto license branch when Ralph Gates was governor and James Tucker was secretary of state. She was vice chairman of Delaware County Republican Committee for 10 years, and later, prior to her retirement in 1960, was employed for 11 years in the admitting office at Ball Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. May was a member of Universalist Unitarian Church and Social Order of Beauceant.

Surviving are four granddaughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Bailey, Mrs. Jan Beckman and Mrs. Rebecca Harmon, all of Muncie, and Mrs. Juanita Addie, Redstone, Colorado; two sisters, Mrs. Stella Collins, and Mrs. Cecilia Coulter Payne, both of Muncie; seven great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at Meeks Mortuary at 11:30 a.m. Saturday with Ron Miller officiating. Interment will follow in Beech Grove. Friends may call at the mortuary from 3 to 5 and from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday and any time before services Saturday. Memorials may be sent to Delaware County Nursing Home.
