WINTHROP - Carolyn F. (Stockford) Corbin, 93, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 28, 2011. She was born on April 6, 1918, in Winthrop, the daughter of Carlton and Katherine (Williams) Stockford. She was a graduate of Winthrop High School, class of 1937 and attended Gates Business College in Augusta.

On April 4, 1940, she married the love of her life, Carroll N. Corbin Sr., in Winthrop. They made their home in Winthrop on the family farm with their four children. After losing her husband in 1964, she spent her years living in Winthrop and Readfield.She was an active member of the Readfield United Methodist Church in Kents Hill. She was also proud of her 78-year membership in the Winthrop and Readfield Granges.

She was predeceased by her parents, Carlton and Katherine Stockford; her husband Carroll Corbin Sr.; her beloved "Sis" Connie (Stockford) Rogers and a special grandson Greg Burt.

She is survived by her four children, Sandra Crocker Burt of Winthrop, Carroll Corbin Jr. and his wife Karen of Chesterville, Susan Tarr and her husband John of Litchfield, Carlton Corbin and his friend Michelle of Winthrop and her daughter-in-law Linda Corbin of Monmouth.

She was so very proud of her children and her 16 grandchildren, Vickie, Mike, Pete, Tina, Glen, Ronnie, Lynn, Kathy, Norman, Angie, Jackie, Ray, Leanne, Greg, Larry and Carl, and all because two people fell in love. She was also amazed with her 24 great-grandchildren and 18 great-great-grandchildren.

At Carolyn's request, there will be a private family burial as she is laid to rest beside her beloved Carroll in Glenside Cemetery in Winthrop.(Morning Sentinel 5/31/2011)
