Lois Eleanor Brown, 98, of Mason City died Saturday, Dec. 7, 2002, at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Lincoln. She was born Nov. 17, 1904, in Sebastopol, the daughter of Adolph and Emma Mueller Malan. She married Oscar Brown in 1933 in Waterloo. Mrs. Brown graduated from Greenville College. She taught at Shady Grove, Pocahontas and Highland schools. She also taught at Mitchell School, south of Mason City, during World War II and taught fourth grade in Mason City schools until her retirement. She was a member of First Christian Church of Mason City, where she taught Sunday school for 25 years, and Illinois Retired Teachers Association. She had been active in the Rebekah Lodge. Survivors: husband, Oscar; a son, David L. Brown of Elgin; two grandchildren; and a sister, Alice Smart of Westerville, Ohio. Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday, First Christian Church of Mason City, the Rev. Robert Paddack and the Rev. William Boyce officiating. Burial: Mason City Cemetery. Hurley Funeral Home in Mason City is in charge of arrangements.
