Info below from findagrave member Leslie Bucher in July 2015:
The death certificate for William Frank Shelton, with the same dates, gives his parents as James Shelton and Gincy (Jincy) Cox, and his place of burial as Shelton Cemetery.
William F Shelton, 12, was on the 1850 census in Peters Creek, Stokes County with James Shelton and his second wife, Abby. In 1870, his brother Alfred Shelton was living with him in Quaker Gap, Stokes County.
In 1850 Williamson Chelton (Shelton), 13, was in the family of Williamson Chelton in Westfield, Surry County.
Williamson Shelton from Surry County may be related to the Stokes County Sheltons.
I don't have a confirmed death dates for either James Shelton or Jincy Cox. I just discovered, though, that James Shelton's brother was Williamson Shelton. Their parents were James Shelton and Susannah Durham of Patrick County, VA. James Sr died in VA, but Susannah moved with the family to Stokes County. She's on the 1870 census in Snow Creek living with another son, Nelson Shelton. I don't have death or burial info for either of them. I imagine a lot of the Sheltons were buried in Shelton Cemetery but the markers are gone.

son was Williamson Frank Shelton Jr
